Throw away everything you unknowingly use every day to guide your conduct. Nothing controls their conduct. And stop thinking wealth, and start thinking power and position. If you have to ask how wealthy you are, you just are not in their class.

Ironic how San Francisco is known for backing up the 99% and especially the bottom 1% homeless population. We also house one of the highest percentages of millionaires in the world.

this state has budget problems b/c no matter how many "rich" people there are, there are millions of impoverished that must be supported by "the system". You cant blame the rich for that

[quote=18Montclair;28531608]And yet people here seem really subdued and modest in dress, cars, homes etc compared to their counterparts in places with far less people of this level of affluence.

LOL.. You realize that not everyone is a billionaire in bay area. The billionaires are not modest but the average person is becuase cost of living is too high compared to income. The disposable income here is probably significantly lower here compared to many other metro areas.

The culture of jealousy in this country is disgusting.

No one is holding anyone else down in the Bay Area and yet I'm constantly seeing your English or Philosophy major types falling over themselves to blame someone else why they are not successful.

Rich people work hard. They save, they invest, and they build stuff that people want.

Great question. It's because (1) no matter how much money they get, the government always has a compulsion to spend twice as much; and (2) no matter how much you tax the top few percent of wage earners (and most are already paying a heavy tax burden), they can't make up for a much larger number of people who pay little to nothing and consume a lot of benefits.
