And yet people here seem really subdued and modest in dress, cars, homes etc compared to their counterparts in places with far less people of this level of affluence.

The only places I could find that have more Billionaires than the Bay Area were the Greater NY Area and Moscow...Im pretty sure one of the chinese cities like Shanghai or Beijing might have about the same amount of Billionaires as the Bay Area as well, otherwise we are among the top 5 concentratrations of resident billionaires in the world, probably 3rd.

I actually don't think this is a good thing. Huge problem with wealth distribution in this country and it's omnipresent in the Bay Area...

Would it be better if Google stopped hiring after they had 40 employees so they could limit their wealth and expansion?

Definitely not a good thing. They should just section off West Oakland and Central Richmond now so the proletariat have somewhere to house their underclass before the janitors and baristas are pushed out of the area completely.

Reality Check. The American working poor in places like the bay are debt servants. If they all just quit and got on the welfare rolls their quality of life would increase tenfold.

Wealthiest people in the Bay Area are white. Shocking!

Most of the blue collar white people have already left the area for cheaper housing, leaving behind an elite white class. We're not so different from other parts of the country. Los Angeles has a much higher number of ultra rich Chinese people. Look at the last names in the list.

I actually agree with this. The Republic of California makes sure we all pay our fair share for this.
