Alameda County rewards boss: $400k…for life | Matier And Ross | an SFGate.com blog

Key excerpt:

"Alameda County supervisors have really taken to heart the adage that government should run like a business — rewarding County Administrator Susan Muranishi with the Wall Street-like wage of $423,664 a year.

For the rest of her life."

I love paying taxes...

Seldom outside of government do you see this kind of ridiculousness and if you do see something like this in the private sector it is given way more scrutiny.

I think the real icing on the cake for me is how they still go the term "public servants". Like it's a real sacrifice to take a deal a like this.

The citizens should revolt for this outrage. The Alameda County Taxes is one of the main reasons why I'm being pushed to sell my home. Home values went down and my home is underwater, but yet my county taxes went up! Now I know where my tax dollars are going! This story and I'm sure there is much more dirt to be dug up about the Alemeda County Finances need to be investigated and fixed. Taxes are destroying the middle class just to make these upper class government "servants" wealthier!

Not to mention the parcel taxes that Alameda County is going to get levied when BART decides it needs to "fund" infrastructure.

the sad part is that it makes me (and likely many other taxpayers) extremely reluctant to favor any new spending programs on things we actually need like infrastructure and education. basically, when they ask us to fork over even more tax dollars for these much needed programs, I'm convinced that a large % of the increase is just lining the pockets of gov't workers and cost overruns (i.e., fraud/overbilling) for gov't contractors

I don't see anybody voting to overthrown all the mayor and all the supervisors. The voters here don't seem to care. You and I all get what we deserve.
