This is true, is the government wishing to issue more bonds than what prop 1a specified?

You would have to be a moron to believe the HSR network in Cali would cost 10 billion , which about the cost each 220mph line in the Midwest or each state in the Northeast. The lowest cost should be about 50 billion no higher to 80 billion.

Why don't you just come out and say "PALMDALE"??? ...because that's obviously what you're getting at. Even though Palmdale is positioned to intercept the Desert Xpress from Las Vegas, NV and become a hub of sorts.

Palmdale is in the CV? I thought it was in the middle of the desert...

I have no idea why they would do this. I know I voted against it, but most voters think that this stuff happens for free, so it passed. That's what you get for living in a liberal democratic state.

I believe Antelope Valley is the correct name of that area.

Palmdale has the potential to capture ridership for the system as there as there are nearly 500K in the Palmdale/Lancaster area, not exactly a "cow town". Also I believe the grade getting down into the valley isn't as steep as the Grapevine either.

Another example of how this is being rammed down our throats through improper oversight:
Quote:
A new government report gives passing grades to the rail authority's business plan...despite noting a 40 billion dollars government funding shortfall to complete the project...

...The Government Accountability Office study found that the business plan to build the 68 billion dollar rail project was reasonable. But only about 4 billion of that has been secured, 3 billion of which has granted by the federal government which experts say would probably build just the first leg alone...

CA High Speed Rail Gets Passing Grade Despite Funding Shortfall - Central Coast News KION/KCBA
So the bond we passed for $9 Billion should cover Merced to Fresno? That's nice.

HGV goes into the Swiss Alps. Why can't we send ours over the Grapevine?

There was a ripping op ed from the Mercury editor yesterday.

That is something, coming from that paper. They are usually gung ho about anything related to mass transit. If they have turned against it, that is telling.
