I've actually visited someone once that lives in very nice senior community out in Roseville. (I think it's this one...Roseville Senior Living | Oakmont of Roseville in Roseville, CA 95661) .

The little town of Clayton might also be someplace to look into...very sleepy and I recall the roads being fairly wide and traffic free. They roads do get windy towards the more rural parts toward Mt Diablo, though.

BUT, I would seriously advise you to take the keys away if your parent is a danger to others!!! Have your parent take a bus.

I have to agree with the bolded part. No need for poor drivers to be on the road. There are enough poor drivers on the road already. Rossmoor is perfect for your mom, and the condo/co-op prices are excellent (watch the HOA's though). I plan on moving there when I retire in 10 years or so (I'm 50). I love Walnut Creek, so living in Rossmoor would be perfect for me in my 60's.
