While it often seems to lose out on "cool factor" when compared to another Bay Area city that shall remain both nameless and expensive, Oakland topped all other major American metropoles in a listicle put out this week by real estate blog Movoto.
lol! I wonder which other Bay Area city they're referring to: SF or Berkeley? SF, I guess.

Wow.... The most exciting in the entire country outpacing cities such as NYC and Las Vegas. These ranking articles are a joke.

I don't think San Francisco should even make the top 5 list for most exciting, yet alone Oakland. Exciting to me = 24 hour nightlife, Access to extreme sports, Fast pace of life.... This pretty much wipes out all of the cities in the Bay Area. Los Angeles besides the early nightlife closing, NYC, Las Vegas, maybe New Orleans or Miami should be no. 1

Those places are fun to visit, but I would never want to live in any of them. 24 hour "energy" can get old pretty quickly

Neither would I, but the article is stating that Oakland is the MOST exciting city in the country, which it is not. Any local knows this and that is a good thing in my opinion. When people get off the plane in Las Vegas, they are like "woooo ahhhhh, and three days later they are ready to leave and rest for a week" that's exciting. Las Vegas is pretty much the obvious answer, but a lot of these "journalists" want to stand out from the pack by naming Oakland the most exciting or naming Arlington, TX the most scenic etc. It's a good thing Oakland or San Francisco or the rest of the Bay Area isn't the most exciting in my opinion.

24 hour nightlife is a phrase meaning all day/night access to bars/lounges/clubs/liquor. I'm surprised you haven't heard of it before lol, we aren't used to this in California, so I don't blame you.
