He died on Saturday. I listened to his show a lot and then he left KGO when it changed its format in Dec. 2011. He had some health problems and never did a radio show again.

He was one of the more sensible hosts on KGO. He had some severe medical problem around 9/11/01, on some ocean cruise and almost died.

So sad. KGO deserves its current downward spiral in the ratings. What goes around comes around.

Rest in Peace Gene.

I listened to Gene Burns a lot. He was very fair and sensible -reasonable is a good word. I will miss him. I don't know KGO's status, but I hated them for letting all their talent go. Hardly listen to them now.

Sorry to hear about Gene Burns. I too would be curious about Ray T. Used to listen to him 'way late at night.

Used to listen to him alot back in the 1990's. Many of his Libertarian views were spot on for me.

Enjoy your rest Gene.

I was listening to Gil Gross on 910AM when he said that Gene Burns had died. He was my favorite talk show host on 810 (KGO) and I listened to both his 7-10 pm evening show as well as Dining Around...on Saturday mornings. I didn't know what had happened to him and I couldn't find anything via Internet until I heard of his passing. A real class act. RIP Mr. Burns.

Apparently, soon after the KGO lay offs -- Mr. Burns got a job on 910... and then before airing had a massive stroke. The stroke gave him aphasia -- he couldn't speak. 910 kept his spot for him (I believe Gil Gross was the fill in guy).

He had several strokes in the past few years... suffering the last one a few days ago.

Not sure if you were aware that Bernie Ward was "let go" after he was arrested and now serving 7 years for having/distributing child pornography on his computer. It's more than "too bad"!. That's pretty despicable.

Very sad about Gene Burns though. I liked him and highly respected his libertarian political leanings and intelligent viewpoints.
