there are some dangerous parts of oakland but the anti-oakland posters try to paint all of oakland as dangerous which is not true. they also religously ignore the national media lauding the growing arts, dining and entertainment scene.

national media such as the wall street journal, forbes magazine, new york times boston globe washington post,La times, sunset magazine, travel & leisure, conde nast traveler advise people to visit oakland and the rave about remarkable urban renewal that has taken place in the last 5-8 years.it's as if they brains will explode if they acknowledge it.it goes against the false image of oakland they pathologically put forth

im surprised that no one has brought this up.

those "cameras" on BART & Muni are the biggest joke. when the cams on BART catch someone in the act, it's too fuzzy on the face.

HA. so true.
but isn't it the same everywhere.....
and rich folks who have never been in the "BIG BAD HOODS" are always carrying pepper spray.
PLEASE. what's that gonna do? A few sprays on the skin would just make the criminal angrier. Does that give you time to run away? noooooo..... If you get the person in the eyes, maybe. chances are, it's not one on one.

Well, let's be honest, when Oakland PD is saying it will take an "indeterminate" amount of time before a 911 call is responded to, then the chances are worse in Oakland.

Not only that unless you've been shot, chances are they wont' take you report seriously when they arrive an hour later.

When my father was car-jacked... the police swarmed and the OPD Helicopter pursued and ground units apprehended the carjacker...

He was from Stockton and it was his third strike.

OPD didn't prevent the car-jacking... but, they apprehended the thief.

What part of Oakland was he carjacked in also how long ago was this? Last I assume he's white? That takes priority.

Near High and MacArthur... about 7 years ago.

One of the responding Motor Cycle Police Officers was injured during the pursuit...

Race was never asked?

You obviously gave them the License plate, which they can look up and probably saw you were registered to a nice part of town and then they can match 2 and 2. Trust me, if some poor person in West Oakland gets car jacked they are not sending out the chopper.
