I don't know about the area, but 237 W in the morning hours is NOT against traffic, it is an absolute parking lot. Commuters from the East Bay (Fremont, Hayward, etc) take 237 to all the major employers in N. San Jose, Sunnyvale, etc.

Traffic would be horrible on 237. Other than that, Milpitas is perfectly safe.

If you live close to Freemont BART you can ride DB1 bus right to Stanford. $4.20 one way.

I take 237 every morning at 0630-0700, my shift starts at 0730 in VAPA hospital...which is about 10 minutes before Stanford. The traffic is not THAT bad. I am usually in traffic for about 15 minutes and I am coming from Fremont. I get to work in 30-40 minutes.

0630-0700 is before rush hour. Try from 7:30 AM to about 9:30 AM you'll see what I mean.

I commuted for years from Fremont to Sunnyvale/Santa Clara/N. San Jose. I always tried to leave home at 7:00 AM and it was 25-30 minutes. Anytime, I left after 7:30 AM, it was 45-60 minutes.
