I plan to celebrate the commencement of burning man by going to all of my favorite hipster hang outs. Since they will be empty. Brunch, Bi-rite, Dolores Park. I might even tempt fate and drive to SF and look for parking.

How about you? What places are on your list? Potrero Hill? Dogpatch? Valencia hotspots Artisan cocktails with house infused alcohol?

I am on my phone, please forgive the typos.

Cafe Van Kleef is going to be a ghost town. Get a greyhound there and then mosey on over to Make Westing.

To be followed by the *least* wonderful time of year, when the )'( crowd competes to see how long they can leave their dust-encrusted bicycles on their cars before they're stolen and/or it starts raining.

Well, for sure, we are going to have to hit the Mission - great parking, no lines to get into eateries, fewer near misses on the sidewalk (e.g. device tunnel vision). I'm still trying to determine if Google Glass facilitates better sidewalk competence.

I would not recommend that, since the Bay Bridge is going to be closed during most of Burning Man.

Which will make it even less crowded for us Peninsulares!

LOL!

The hipsters might not be clearing out in such numbers as yesteryear. Anybody seen Burning Man's prices these days? One hears of an increasing presence of curious salaried tech geeks going to these things, instead of artsy-fartsy carny types.

And then there's the smoky air. Hipsters won't have to Instagram their playa photos to give them that coveted "sepia" look!

Burning Man has never been a hipster event. A lot of old hippies, young wanna-be hippies, Occupy types and various other assorted dreaded burnouts. Hipsters are known mostly for indie rock, opening pickle shops and perfecting pre-prohibition cocktails, not radical leftist politics.
