Given that Eastmont Hills is in the hills above Eastmont, I don't think it's that much of a stretch for a name. I think the more commonly used name for the particular area we're discussing, though, is King Estates.

I just assumed it was by the Eastmont mall.

Another loosely/fabricated up area name. King Estates was middle school. Let's call the area King Estates, said no one that lived there ever.

I'm sorry, but you're wrong. King Estates is widely used on the list serve for the residents who live there. I'm not really sure what you're trying to argue. Because East Oakland extends from Lake Merritt through Fruitvale and Elmhurst to Stonehurst, there is a functional need to distinguish between the neighborhoods it contains.

I'm really not trying to argue. And I know that people on this list use these terms. People posting on this . list are a particular demographic. Historically, people have not used those names - it has always been East Oakland. As a life long resident, it is odd. I would bet money that you could ask 50 people that live in "King Estates" if their neighborhood had a name and most would say no. But then google says King Estates is actually Eastmont Hills-- so maybe everyone is wrong.

Indeed, people will say they live in East Oakland, not any specific neighborhoods. Some will say what number streets they are on.

I feel it is sort of necessary to specify which area in east oakland you are referring to as it is such a large area. And even if no one who lives their calls it Eastmont Hills or any other name for that matter is irrelevant. I used that term to describe the neighborhood so anyone replying to this post could identify it on a map and give me their thoughts. It's not because I'm afraid to call it east oakland, it's because I was trying to be specific.

But to get back on topic, how does everyone feel about maxwell park?

Well it does matter if the people that might actually live there and be able to help you can't do so....Anyway,my comments don't speak to your original post. If you care to be more specific I'm sure you can get some feedback from people actually living there or having some background there. I still don't really know where you are looking. The area some refer to as Maxwell park is pretty broad too.where are you looking ?

So the street in Eastmont Hills is Earl street, the street in Maxwell Park is Camden street.
