Didn't know those bus protestors were Nazis (look more like the usual agitators), nor that the geeks aboard were all Jews. Learn something new every day...at least, in terms of gaining insight into the bizarro world of the highest-falutin' "job creators".

One from the comment section bears repeating:

"The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness."
-John Kenneth Galbraith

Not sure if Mr. Perkins has made a sufficient case for that moral justification with his oh-so-candid remarks. Kind of cool that he reiterated these in another publication. Double down, Your Highness, so that we may come to know your true nature. Bravo! Oh, that we could enjoy more of the same from scores of other VCs. Let the floodgates of outrageous, amazing 1% opinions open!

The is legitimate disappointment and anger on the parts of middle and lower middle class people who are increasingly feeling left out of the Bay Area economy.

During the December cold snap the tech haven of the South Bay registered a number of deaths of homeless.

For those who are not in tech, other "knowledge economy" careers or at the upper echelons of the service economy, the Bay Area is a brutal place.

One key factor in the demise of the middle class (and lower) here has been the exit of manufacturing jobs that used to give less educated people a way to lift themselves up. I have been an up close and personal witness to this (and at times have sadly had to partake a bit). The economic, labor and regulatory environment here, combined with a herd frenzy in search of the next "low cost geography" spelled the doom of manufacturing here.

You can't blame manufacturing jobs for moving away when you have unions basically battling companies for decades and then vote to mandate crap loads of regulations, restrictions, fees etc. I think unions are the most destructive thing for the middle class because the greed destroys the business thus sending everyone home.

Unions matter very little when off-shore labor is available for a dollar an hour.

One can easily substitute "CEOs" for "unions" in this sentence.

Lotta people probably don't know this, but the country's second biggest Oil & Gas Company (only after Exxon), and one of the worlds largest integrated, major petroleum companies has it's corporate headquarters in the SF Bay Area.
Who knew San Fran was part of the oil patch ?
