Every place is up to the person to make of it what they will, it's just that some places lend themselves to it than others.

Sure, but I've traveled around a bit and lived abroad in actual one street villages in Europe. I know how to have fun...even in cities where few even spoke "American English" (They don't speak "American English" in Glasgow, FYI- It's a whole other ballgame).

I'm able to have fun, what's the problem with "place"?

One of my most memorable vacations was in some "hamlet" in some refurbished finca run by an English couple that in deep rural Spain during the a hail storm/super cold snap during Semana Santa. Spain is the place to be for folks in Western Europe to escape a loooong gray winter. We lived in Ireland and had to get away.

Ha Ha...we had to make the most of of the crappiest weather ever. No sun, all rain/all cold in some hamlet in the middle of nowhere. We packed swimsuits, not rainboots---and that's what it did---rain...freezing rain. One of my kids had a stomach virus--throwing up in the car on the windy roads in the middle of miles of olive groves.

Don't ever tell there's somewhere "boring"!!! It was one of the best holidays EVER (in hindsight). The memories are funny now. You entertain yourselves!

I'm old enough now where I prefer "boring" by this guy's definition. Staying out until 5 am, acting like a douchewad, turning my brain into boiled squash...I just don't get the kind of kick I used to out of that. So SF works for me.

The idea that San Francisco is somehow "boring", is... boring.

san francisco, and the bay area in general, was one of the most boring places i've lived in my entire life.

it's a magnet for nerds, introverts, lame people with no soul, etc. there are a ton of freaks and weirdos, and not in a good way.

Nerds and introverts? Nothing wrong with that. Besides, being nerdy and introverted makes you more likely to earn $$.
"Lame people with no soul"? I can't think of any demographic that fits that description. Is it wealthy educated people that you abhor?
Freaks and weirdos? They're pretty interesting, no?

I found city of San Francisco more boring than Seattle, but SF Bay overall more fun than "Greater Seattle".
