I can't visually tell the difference between a "techie" or "hipster".

I don't hate either... but I do think we're losing an attractive character of this city when affluent people are taking over and driving out middle & low-class people.

The less diverse this city becomes the more plain, boring, full of sameness, etc. the city becomes. I value diversity because to me variety is the spice of life.

For example, so many artist types (including friends) left during the previous dot com boom and made it feel to me like this city lost a lot of heart.

Now the Latino community of the Mission district is diminishing a lot, and to me it feels like more heart is being driven away (not to mention delicious food for those who can enjoy it [I have Celiac, so my days of eating Latin food in the Mission are over ]).

Also, if this city gets full of only money-worshippers, the "variety" will instead be competitions of comparing Lexuses & BMWs, Patek to Cartier, etc.. Many nose hairs would be visible. Those aren't my idea of improvements which is why I oppose the gentrification.
