I just accepted a job that pays 50k plus in burlingame. Me and my family lived in Santa Rosa for 13 years and move to Washington state for the last year and a half. I need to find something around 1400 a month . The most affordable places to me are Concord, Pittsburg Antioch, and Fairfield. I know either way the commute will suck really I'm looking at the best place to raise a family. I'm planning in using the Bart and not driving what you think?

I think you need to look at a BART map a little closer lol.

The job is very near the millbrae station walking distance.

Try Pescadero, Pacifica, or South San Francisco. Or Daly City. You'll have a commute, and you're not making much to support a family on. Will your wife be working? You might also try Fremont, for rents in your range (condos). You can take the train from there to the Peninsula, if you don't want to drive.

No my wife won't be working. I'm going to work under a enrolled Agent who will be training on what he does so I can take my own enrolled agent exam. So I do plan on making much more then 50k pretty soon after I start.

I did not realize this until bike to work day, but Milbrae BART is like 1/2 mile from Burlingame. It is actually really close. Downtown Burlingame is 2 miles or less from BART.

I did not realize that either until now, apparently I was the one that needed to look at a map a little closer lol. I always thought it was farther south.

$1400 is kind of low for a 2 bedroom, Pittsburg is in that price range but that is a LONG and expensive BART ride. Not sure if Fremont or San Leandro is that low.

I just did a quick check of Craigslist. You can get a 2-br. house in Daly City for $1400. That, at least, is BART-able, and not too long a commute.

It's also probably a pretty hard place to get too considering it's the only 2 bedroom listing for $1400 in the entire Peninsula on CL from what I saw. East Bay has a lot more listings in that price range, some actually closer than Pittsburg too like Concord.
