6.1 in American Canyon. That's a pretty big one, and definitely shook us up in the East Bay. I hope everyone is safe! Still waiting for that aftershock.

A 6.1 is not "the big one."

It's not the small one either. Loma Prieta was a 6.9, a 6.1 is not very far off. BTW the title was sarcasm....

I was wondering where that was centered.

I felt it here in SF, too. It caused the water in a water bottle resting on a table to make about 2 inch waves from east to west.

Why isn't there anything about it on the TV news yet?

KPIX is reporting in a ticker/marquee bar that it was a 5.7 and felt across the bay area, but not giving any other information. The local TV news stations are slow.

Actually a 6.9 is about 5 times stronger that a 6.1. The moment magnitude scale is logarithmic.

There have been bigger ones (like the one in 1989 for example). But this isn't that small either.

It felt like someone was hauling my house somewhere. And the movement lasted so LONG! But it didn't feel like a 6.0 here. I would have thought about a 3...
