Funny, I moved away from NC nearly ten years ago to get away from people like the OP- bless his heart.

This was an interesting experience. I especially found it interesting that so many people jumped to conclusions based on the factual anecdote I relayed from my colleague in San Ramon.

Thanks to those who posted thoughtful, non-judgemental replies.

Those who jumped to conclusions and made assumptions .... well ... Jesus loves you too.
There are plenty of neighborhoods in SF and all over bay area that are almost all white.. They are not really redneck though and probably not too Jesus loving either.

If you openly show your displeasure at too many asians in San Ramon or anywhere else obviously you will be judged as intolerant/ignorant or racist. Every part of CA, including the central valley, is very diverse! Also cut that condescending 'jesus loves you too' BS if you ever move here.

...all I'm gonna say is good luck.

Because you would probably have only a marginally harder time finding a coed nudist colony in Riyadh.

Where do Southern conservative, Jesus loving rednecks move too in the Bay Area.

Work is in downtown SF near embarcadero BART.

I hear from colleagues San Ramon is nice if you want your kids going to a school that is 98% Indian and Asian.

Any place to get decent GRITS in the East Bay?

I honestly don't think your Southern conservative background is going to matter too much in whatever neighborhood you move to. Just keep your politics/religion to yourself (aka good manners) and you should be fine. No one is going to ostracize you just based on your conservative background unless you get in their face about it first.

You haven't told us your criteria for selecting Danville, but if your research shows it's the clear winner then go for it. Danville is nice.

I don't know where people are getting this impression that Danville is filled with Jesus loving rednecks. The OP should be looking more at outer East Bay places like Clayton, Brentwood, Tracy, or maybe even Livermore. When I think Danville, I think highly educated, wealthy, and elite- NOT Jesus loving redneck, new money.

Everyone here seems to be forgetting Livermore -- the most "redneck" town in all of the East Bay!
