A California first? Tri-Valley middle schools plan cricket match - San Francisco Chronicle

"Between 2000 and 2013, San Ramon’s Indian population increased 600 percent — from 1,390 to 9,720 residents. The small suburban city now has a higher percentage of Asians living in it than San Francisco or San Jose — 39.5 percent.

Since 1980, the percentage of Asians living in Pleasanton more or less doubled every decade — from 2.5 to 5.6 to 11.7 to 23.1 percent of the population in 2010. Proportionally, Pleasanton’s Asian community was almost twice as large as that of Los Angeles in 2013."

"Cricket is growing in California, especially in the Tri-Valley, which encompasses the cities of San Ramon, Pleasanton, Dublin, Danville and Livermore."

"The proliferation of the sport, which was born in Britain and became hugely popular in South Asia in the colonial era, is just one indicator of changing times — and changing demographics — in the Tri-Valley. Once a collection of small, rural and largely white towns, the region is now a booming suburb that’s home to thousands of new Asian residents."

American dream draws Asians to suburbs - SFGate

"That means places like San Ramon.
In 1990, the East Bay suburb's population was 83 percent white and 9 percent Asian. Now, it is 48 percent white and 36 percent Asian - the 10th-biggest percentage growth of Asian population for a city in California since 1990, said Hans Johnson, a demographer at the Public Policy Institute of California who is studying the state's Asian influx."

San Ramon's population has exploded over the past decade - San Jose Mercury News

"Within the Asian population, Asian Indians saw a 490 percent increase since 2000. Koreans saw a 463 percent increase. Vietnamese, Chinese, Filipino and other Asians saw increases of over 200 percent apiece. Japanese saw the smallest increase at 30 percent.

Whites are the majority in all of San Ramon except for the Dougherty Valley, where Asians make up 58 percent of the population."

Doesn't anyone else find that fairly drastic social engineering?

Exactly, immigration has happened throughout the 20th Century but the degree of change in the last few decades is unprecedented.

A Tale of Two Immigrants - November/December 2004 - Sierra Magazine - Sierra Club

"ANOTHER FIRST-GENERATION IMMIGRANT, Yeh Ling-Ling, sees the whole situation differently. Regardless of why immigrants come to the United States, the fact that they do-and that they have a higher fertility rate-troubles her."

"While fighting a massive development project in Orinda, a bedroom community to which her family moved in 1990, Yeh began to focus on the environmental consequences of unchecked growth. "I love open space. I love nature," says Yeh, who uses her original name in her work with the Diversity Alliance. "But one day it dawned on me: If we keep adding immigrants, they've got to live somewhere." She continues, "Even the poor ones are using more resources here than in their native lands. Go to Costco. Look at those immigrants. What are they buying? Boom boxes, hi-fis, televisions. They drive SUVs. Did they have those goods in their home countries? I doubt it."

"Immigrants are like apples," she adds. "There are good apples and bad apples. Our problem is you simply cannot eat too many apples, even if they're all good ones. They'll make you sick."

Oh god, what do they call people like this? The Asians that try to adopt conservative white values to fit in. Sounds like a self hating Asian person to me.

How dare they come to America and make babies and enjoy a higher standard of living, like all the previous immigrants before them. The nerve!!! (sarcasm)
