Good for him. I'm liking Lucas more and more. He's the kind of man the bay area (and the country) needs more of.

Of course, if I was a low-income person seeking housing, I don't know if I'd be interested in living on a low-income housing island in Marin county, surrounded by neighbors who are supremely ignorant bigots.

Remember that this is Marin, though--that means to qualify for the new housing, a family of four must make less than $81,500 (per 2015 HUD standards for Marin County). So, yeah.

At any rate, kudos to Lucas for putting the plan forward, even if I do suspect it was done as much for spite as for any great desire to provide much-needed workforce housing in Marin.

They didn't oppose BART, either, right?

Not every marin resident is a billionaire like George Lucas.
Then they should stop ramming their stupid policies down the throats of the rest of us, while refusing to accept the consequences when those same policies come to bite them.

I think it's funny that GL is basically sticking it to Marin, but at the same time, their NIMBYism is hardly unique. People do the same thing on the Peninsula and the 680 corridor. When you have pristine wilderness and low population density for rich people, it's not at all surprising they want to fight to keep it that way. TBH, the NIMBYism in SF and Oakland irritates me much more because the areas that could be built up vertically aren't particularly charming anyway. See: SOMA, unused parking decks in DTO, etc.

"Low-income" housing in Marin county just means Middle class.

Yet the idiots in Marin think some people from Richmond who live in apartments next to drug-dealers will be moving in, even though "low-income" units usually means upper-middle class that are short of luxury apartment status.

Marin county never opposed BART, they simply couldn't afford it when San Mateo dropped out. It is indeed a myth considering wealthy Orinda and Lafayette had no problem with BART.
