Hi All,

I am a professional in late 30s starting a new job in a new city. I am relocating for a job in Emeryville and want to know good neighborhood options to live in. My preferences are living in city, taking bus/train to work, outdoor activities convenience - running, biking, hiking, neighborhood cafes, restaurants, shops, parks, lots of things to do...

I read in this forum that commute to/from SF - Emeryville is no joke. What are other alternatives that can offer me the above lifestyle?

Thank you in advance for your help!

AC

We can't help without you stating budget, how much you earn (optional but helpful since many people have no idea that they will be poor if they try to live like they think they can), size of apartment or house preference, whether you want to buy or rent, whether you want roommates, and where you can compromise. You have a lot of choices, all of which are expensive, but maybe you can afford it, who knows

There is a free shuttle from the MacArthur BART station to Emeryville. Without knowing your monthly budget for a rental (I'm assuming) than nobody can help you.

Best place to work for work in Emeryville is Berkeley (depending on what part of Emeryville, I guess). Almost anyplace east of Shattuck Avenue, and toward the north side of Berkeley.

Why deal with the bridge? Oakland or Berkeley can give you what you want. And then you can go into SF when you want to, but not HAVE to deal with the commute across the bridge.
