Right? lol. Yeah I'm pretty well aware of how fast wildfires can spread too, I lived through two catastrophic wildfires in San Diego, one of which came fairly close to where I lived at the time. Also lived here in 91 during the Oakland Hills fire. If the OP is so knowledgeable about wildfires I don't get why one a 100 miles away would worry them.

No how about just answering my question, like others have, instead of giving a smart ass remark?

I did answer your question, I was just curious why you would worry about it initially. I figured maybe you weren't familiar with them but apparently you are which makes the question even more odd lol.

People give smart ass remarks to a stupid ass question.

Who will know what will happen by beginning of September? Chances are whatever current fires are burning are put out. And some new fire will starts. Wild fire is nothing new in California. Wild fires reaching SF city and county would be something extraordinary, as SF is surrounded on 3 sides by water (Pacific Ocean and SF Bay).

To be fair, something that got going up on San Bruno Mountain with a strong SE wind could affect the Outer Mission, but I realize most tourists could care less about it.

Think of it this way, if there were fires in the Aspen area right now, and I asked you if I should worry about a vacation I was planning to take in Denver next month, should I worry about the fires currently happening in Aspen ruining my vacation next month in Denver - what would you think?

Seriously, this is a really silly question. It just begs for one of us to say, "Of course you should worry! Remember, there's no water here to put the fires out! The entire state will be burned up and all of us with it by next month!"

Or not.

Stay away from Lake County and Hwy 20 for now and avoid I-5 north of Sacramento.

I'm surprised there has been no mention of California earthquakes.

I thought I read it was 100 miles north of SF last time I checked. Your insight is appreciated.
himain,
Use this link and you can see the containment of the fire: Rocky Fire General Information

This morning's estimate for containment of the fire is Aug. 13th, which I'm glad to hear, as I live about 2 miles from one of its edges.

Then, you could keep this url: California Fire Information handy to check exactly where any fires may be burning when you arrive for your visit.

I hope you have a wonderful trip!
