Nothing in that price range exists.

Yes, go with airbnb. You can find out everything you need to know about neighborhoods and everything else on the web. It's up to YOU to ck things out throughly, especially regarding using the right host.

I just came back from a trip to St. Petersburg, Fl (loads of decent hotels by the Tampa airport for $100 and less by the way) using airbnb for the first time, and while I didn't fully ck out my host and had some issues, airbnb made good on refunding a sizable portion of my housing money back to me. They will listen to you. They're not like eBait or Paypal, two companies I despise because they operate like fascist organizations. No matter what happens, they are always right, especially when they're wrong. We plan on using this service when we move to St.Pete in a few months. Why pay a lot of money to impersonal hotels that give you nothing but a room when you can stay w/ someone that suits you and knows the lay of the land because they live there. And......you can save a LOT of money vs a hotel.

Airbnb, like uber, is now, it's the future, it's person to person w/o big corporations screwing things up for everyone involved (except for themselves of course).

Thanks for your obviously exhaustive research, but you missed this for $85 dollar per night and a 5-minute walk from MacArthur BART: Imperial Inn - 15 Photos - Hotels - North Oakland - Oakland, CA - Reviews - Yelp
