I don't know about the rest of you, but when someone says, "Don't drink the kool-aid" all I hear is "I think your view is biased. You should believe my biased views instead."

I think it is pretty unreasonable to think the Bay Area would be exempt from nationwide structural issues.

I think the Bay Area has historically been a place that is a bit more meritocracy than other places. I think there is actually space to succeed, comparatively. Where the Bay Area differs than most of the US is that in most of the country your place is defined and there is no getting out of it. In the Bay Area if you ascend you'll be accepted in the new place. Well it used to be a lot more like that.

Things have been less progressive in recent years, but this also matches the change in our country. Our country has become a lot more segregated. And I am not sure why.

But in m experience, if you have diverse friends, and your friends want to overturn some of the structural issues, at least you can impact that in your spheres of influence.

But aren't whites and yellows integrated in the Bay Area? I would think they get along just fine there.

You must understand. This skin colour thing is all wrong. It is the differing CULTURES! The Indians don't identify with the cultural norms of the Blacks.

Then you would have died in Jonestown.

The issue really, is not whether or not the south is racist (not the focus of the discussion) but whether the bay area deserves its "integrated" reputation. The answer is probably 'no'. And the evidence in the article is pretty convincing.
I'm not a person of color, but I've lived in various places around the country, and I've never seen the type of diversity that's present in the Bay Area anywhere else. As I mentioned earlier, racism exists everywhere and it will continue to exist indefinitely, but to suggest that the Bay Area isn't a diverse and integrated place flies in the face of research. If you want to actually discuss scientific research, why don't you read this article:

The Most Diverse Cities Are Often The Most Segregated | FiveThirtyEight

I tend to value science more than anecdotes, but that's just me. You are free to believe whatever you want.

BayDude and Bisaro seem to think only non-Blacks can be racist. I'd also add a large amount of BLM too.
