So let me get this correct. They get to interrupt other peoples lives by blocking BART, blocking the Bay Bridge and bringing Market St to a halt, but the rest of us need to worry about our own lives?

Then again, it seems people like you are obsessed with Blacks.
Heller? They are blocking BART, the Bay Bridge and Market St. They want our attention, no?

And please dont lump all Blacks into the same group as this bunch of buffoons. Thats insulting.

People in the bay love to protest for anything. It just happens to be BLM now. Before that Occupy. There was the AIDS jerks who protested and shut down traffic. The anti Vietnam Hippies. The women's lib strangos. Iraq war. It's always *something* in the bay.

I'm from the LA area where the police kick butt and take names, so sometimes this stuff in the bay strikes me as strange.

One thing is for sure: SFPD will not go HAM. Their faux liberal/pseudo intellectual marketing gimmicks to attract tourists and transplants depends on the police not going HAM. If they try anything in San Jose the police are going to make them sorry. San Jose PD DOES NOT play.

San Francisco has sure changed. With each passing decade the number of protesters at these events has gotten smaller and smaller. I remember when they would muster thousands of people. Now they're lucky if they can get a hundred.

You really think this kind of anger is unsubstantiated. I am an immigrant, and very soon after I came to america, I was shocked by the inequity that coincides with racial lines. It was perplexing and shameful, especially for a country that is capable of so much.

Now, Its pretty obvious to me that, there is a systemic violence and oppression against black people in this country. And some cops are the culprit. some cops.

This is a protest. They have a right to do it. They have a right to tell people about the injustice. They are striving for a social change. What else are people supposed to do? Go to war with the police?

That being said, I cannot condone people blocking access to public services to other members of the public.

Protest is a good thing, it indicates political participation. This is a democracy. A good one allows for dissidence and dialogue,

The whole premise of your argument was to sarcastically down play the oppression blacks have faced by doing the typical right wing tactic of thinking all Blacks are just race baiters and complainers looking for hand outs or to "Blame Whitey". Wrong, there are many dirty Black , Latino, Asian AND white cops. It's the system that is being protested, the system that was founded on White supremacy. Nobody lumped all Blacks into anything, I'm a Black man, so believe it or not, we are not a monolithic group. I do think the protesters could go about things differently but the anger is justifiable.

Or perhaps, after a while, regular people just might start feeling exactly as you describe.

Ever thought about that?

Protest groups should really do focus groups and scientific polling. It will help them develop the most effective way to present their message and actually gain support.

One of my biggest gripes is that we sit around assigning blame at who did us wrong, but that is wasted energy imo.

Screw them, we need to come together to change ourselves FIRST.

Ive been chewed out( lol) at many a Polynesian community event here in the Bay Area because I dont go along with the notion that our fate lies in the hands of teen gangs and racist White people, and Im very vocal about it. Change in the greater society begins within the hearts and minds of individuals.

Do you make it a habit of putting words into people's mouths? And I specifically chastened YOU about lumping Blacks into one group precisely because they are NOT, and thus group does NOT speak for all Blacks.

Yes, we agree on this but my point is 'anger' at the NFL? Out-of-Towners? Tourists? Broncos fans?

When I get mad about something, I take it out on precisely the person(s) in a position to fix it, not motorists on the damned Bay Bridge( rolls eyes)

I don't totally disagree with you. We have to understand that not all people have the same resources that we do or you do. If one were to believe your online persona then one would believe that you are a very wealthy person that is well educated. In this position, I assume you understand that many are unable to access the same resources that you have available to you. Our message to the poor and disenfranchised is going to be different than to CEO'S, right? Hence, these lower class people do not have any other way to make their voice heard. If anyone disagrees than I am NOT stuck on this opinion but it is the only one that I can authentically think of.
