I was reading reviews on College park high school yesterday and although it rates as a 9 on greatschools, some of the reviews over the last couple of years are scathing. 40 kids to a class, out of control, teachers who can't cope, useless administration and on and on. This is terrifying to me, my son who would be transferring here is an extremely gentle, bookworm scout, super smart but with an IEP. It sounds like he would be crushed in this school. Some reviews went as far as saying avoid the entire Mount Diablo school district which is mainly where we've been focusing :-( Back to the drawing board? How is the commute from Novarto to Alameda?

Only avoid MD unified if it feeds into Concord, which is filled with low income apartment kids

Pretty safe suburb, it has a Bart station, not the really diverse, mostly Whites and Asians live there, low crime rates, expensive. It actually kinda has a small college town vibe to it due to DVC being in the city.
