Are you kidding me? You must have never been to Newark New Jersey, New York , Baltimore, Hartford, etc etc. SF is one of the cleanest "big" cities in America.

SF is definitely a filthy city. No question. For all the street cleaning tickets we pay it's really criminal. You get what you vote for, though!

Been to Newark, New York,Hartford.

Hartford, New York (atleast Manhattan as compared to SF financial district - dont get Bronx out here and compare it with Sausalito) are definitely cleaner than SF.

About Newark or NJ, tourist dont flock and people dont call it a cleanest 'big' city and go gaga over Newark.

Chicago is another town that is way cleaner than SF, at least in the business and tourist areas. It can be done, but it ain't happening here . . .

SF certainly isn't the cleanest city in the world, but I wouldn't call it filthy either... NYC is much dirtier in my opinion, and places like Detroit & New Orleans (even pre-Katrina) make us look downright spotless.

NYC is very clean, especially Manhattan. SF can't even clean a few blocks around Union Square.

When was the last time any of you have been to NYC? There is nothing that I would call clean about it? I know the whole Rudy Cleaning up the city thing has been a big marketing ploy but it's still MUCH dirtier than SF. It's like when people say NYC is safe, it's hardly what I would call safe.

Well, I dont recall seeing trash bags in which people carry all their belongings in NYC. If you see a trash bag lying in the streets on SF, you wouldnt throw it as it may actually belong to someone. Dont recall seeing in NYC.
