Amusing read but ridiculous article.

Art is reserved for the rich, and the rent controlled at this point.
The high price point of the city is hardly tied to it's counter-culture or artistic scene anymore.

New Urbanism is 'in', and SF is the densest city in the area- an area with a lucrative job market for many skill sets.

Artists should bolt, create a better space elsewhere- raise that places value and then cash out.

Well, the artists should do what people do in Silicon Valley if they can't pay for an apartment by themselves -- get roommates.

That or get a day job that pays for the rent, I guess.

Artists will sprout up in other places, more affordable places. That's just the way of the world.

"Instead of dealing with insane landlords who actively try to evict you, why not move to Concord or Hayward or Pittsburg or any of the other cities with a BART station that offers easy access to San Francisco?"

Because they are soulless suburbs. Why not move to a cheaper city where rent is still dirt cheap and where you can still afford to work part-time and create art on the side. What about the real Pittsburgh, Detroit, Cleveland, or Milwaukee.
