Hi everyone >> I'm going to be moving out from Pennsylvania in a couple weeks and would like some opinions on affordable places for a single, 25 year old male. I'd like to live alone, but am willing to have another roomy if need be. I'll probably commute to work by car, looking for around 30 mins. or less.... or even public transportation if it's available. Affordable for me means $1000 or less. I'm open to new experiences and don't have any specific needs.

I'd like to find an area with people my age, fun, energetic, with a little bit of style....

Any ideas....opinions?? Thanks!

It's hard finding a place in the Bay Area for under $1000/month now. Of course, as I'm sure you already know, the closer you get to the water, the more expensive rent will be along with everything else. You can find rent in Sacramento for under $1,000/mo but Sacramento is not nearly has "fun", "stylish", and "energetic". It is much slower out there so you probably would need to move to the Bay to find that

Try the East Bay. It has some of the most affordable areas. You may find something around $1,000 that is fairly nice and in a fairly nice area. Do extra homework on any spots that are under $1,000 to make sure that you would really want to stay there, because apts below that price can signify something else. Or, like you said, if you don't mind having a roommate you could possibly be able to afford a spot in the downtown areas of the larger cities which are very cultural, diverse, and fun. I think you would like it...hope this helps!
