My daughter and I visiting the City in May, reserved Kabuki hotel one week and Capri (in the Marina district?) for the 2nd week. Now I am reading about crime in SF; getting concerned, we are not that street smart- as we are from a small quiet town in New England, low crime area.
Is this a good choice of hotels? (motel is selected due to free parking for a rental and low rates, so we have money for something fun to do) Will it be safe to go the the theater at night, or do you have matinées?
Thank you

The Marina and Japantown are very safe neighborhoods... so is most of San Francisco, despite what some people are saying on that crime thread. Just be aware & don't look too obviously "touristy," which is advice I'd give for traveling to any big city. Btw, when you say "go to the theater," are you talking about the Kabuki or the downtown theater district? The theater district is in a sketchy neighborhood (Civic Center/Tenderloin), but you should be fine if you take a cab... it's not even that dangerous at night, just kinda grimy (lots of homeless people & such), but there are matinées if you're worried. Anyway, have fun!

You'll be fine.

I know there's a housing project a few blocks away.

But Black people don't bite.

Be safe! Keep that cash in your wallet, and those hands out of your purse.

Have fun

Thank you, Gizmo, Kristin,,thxcvx, taboo for your kind response.
I guess, we take our chances with the hotels, as usually we do.
We are looking forward for a fun visit to your beautiful city!
