I browse other boards on here from time to time and I rarely see the level of hatred from outsiders in the other city boards. Why do so many people hate on the Bay?

because a lot of those people were displaced and chased away by the COL in the Bay Area and are now at places they're more satisfied with. Don't think it's happened to any other city

But if they are more satisfied where they're at, why be angry?

Depends on the person I guess. I fell in love with everything about the Bay Area within the first few months I was here. Too bad COL and my reluctance to want to live like a college student is preventing me from making it my permanent home.

One reason is that it is known as an ultra liberal, gay loving city so there are many people who hate those things and automatically hate the area. I can remember hearing that way back in the 60's when I lived in LA.

The same type of posts seem to come from people who don't even reside in California and express a great deal of hatred toward the state overall.

I've only lived in one state other than CA my entire life. I sincerely doubt I'd ever go back. That said, there were parts of it that I still remember quite fondly. I can say that about everywhere I've lived in CA as well.

I love the Bay Area. I loved living there.

It's the best place on earth to live IF you are a millionaire, or are ok with downgrading your size/quality/safety of housing.

I can't justify wasting $3k+/mo on rent to live in a crappy old house in California. I have a much nicer, newer home in Scottsdale and in a 10/10 ranked school district. I can get from Phoenix to SFO in 2 hours. SF is a much better place to visit now.

I've heard it all my life, especially in more conservative rural areas. Now, of course, people bring up the COL also, and whether or not it's worth it. As another poster said, much of this is said about all of California, not just the Bay area.

They hate that they can't afford to live there.

If they were satisfied with where they were, they wouldn't haunt the Bay Area forums.

So, they must be infatuated with the area, and simply hate that they can't afford to live there, but rather than admit that, they have to try and convince themselves and everyone else who lives there - that it's not somewhere they or anyone else should love.

And yet, they are obsessed. They can't let go or move on.

Kind of a fatal attraction thing.

And really, the fact that there are so many, just goes to show that the place is a very desirable place. Lots of jilted SF lovers out there...
