Hopefully more people will sue because that's the only way to force BART to increase security

They're already increasing security/police presence.

Interestingly, the really bad time for crime on public transit in the Bay Area was 4 - 5 years ago. It's gone down overall. But it could be better yet.

I think you meant to say:

"Family sues 'Bay Area Residents' for $3 million after being robbed by mob"
Because that is really where the money is coming from- in the end.

3 Million for a robbery- it must have been absolutely blood chilling, terrifyingly frightening for those poor passengers to warrant that amount. For a chance at 3mil to just hand over some of my personal belongings, I'll start riding BART more.

Typical 680 corridor mentality.

"I got slapped by a teeny bopper, I'm gonna sue!"

Can't speak for the other victims, but these clowns clearly deserved to be robbed and had it coming.

They should sue and it's a whiny excuse to say they are suing "residents" when those same people probably pay those BART taxes too. That isn't even the point, these mobs are a known thing and places like BART need to acknowledge and prevent it. Too many weirdos, too much bad behavior, and nobody should be worrying about being shoved in front of a train by a lunatic or robbed by gutter punks because they are doing what they are told is the RIGHT THING TO DO and using public transportation. There is no excuse. And it's why me and everyone I know will keep buying cars and clogging the roads.

I agree, hit them where it hurts until they are forced to take action when any level of criminal activity takes place.

You need to get a grip if that is the reason why you won't use public transit. There have been armed car hijackings too, more frequently than BART robberies. Perhaps you should just stay in your house/bubble.

I really hope they win. BART has been a dirty cesspool of unreported rape, homeless people harassing passengers, and petty theft.

Maybe losing a few million will help them clean up that sloppy excuse for public transit.
