Congrats. Thanks for letting us know your decision. Most posters ask a lot of questions and you never hear back again. What made you choose Contra Costa?

Mostly it was all of the advice about the lack of transportation and ways into the city from Marin County. Also the reassurance that even "Conservative" is also no where near what I was imagining from the East Coast. I also sensed more diversity in Contra Costa.
We also weighed all the cool little towns we are close to for entertainment options and decided that it would be the best fit.
I also have several options on how to get to work from Contra Costa so that will reduce my commute times during the week.
And finally, we went further than Berkeley because we got more space and can add a pool. (Above ground for now...spent all the $$ on the house!) haha

Basically, all of your advice helped to sway us! Thanks again for all of your time!

What city did you pick? If you don't want to answer, I'd understand. But I'm always interested in that type of stuff.

I enjoyed contra costa myself. Many cities are warm so the pool will be nice.

Same here- my ideal would be working from home/telecommuting and owning a place in Stinson Beach or Bolinas. That is the best of the bay area to me!
