So what surprising, but at the same time, makes sense.

Not many affordable areas left to buy a home somewhat close to SF. So now all the people flock to a "lesser" area where crime is bad, buy all the homes at a cheaper price, and maybe get lucky in the process to push some bad people out.

Driving would suck, traffic and bridge tolls no matter which way you go.
