San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, western end in SF at the Embarcadero.

Some were still clinging to loose non containerized bulk cargo but its days were numbered. Obviously there was no investment going into upkeep of those docks.

What's cool about that pic is, it takes me back to childhood. It's easy to forget how much things have changed around here over the past 45 - 50 years.

post more of them! Take a look at the condition of the wharf back then. My first trip to The City was 1970 and from Fisherman's Wharf along the waterfront towards the Bay Bridge was where you NEVER went and the Embarcadero Fwy ramp to nowhere staring at you.............then Pier 39 happened, 1989 quake and later AT&T and now? a beautiful attractive Embarcadero.
