I'm looking at rentals in Dublin/Pleasanton/Livermore area (3-4 BR). Just wondering how the utilities run for big houses (2500-3500 sq ft) in the area.

Any problems with bugs/ants that one should be aware of?

Moving from another state so not sure.

Thanks!

The area gets more extreme temperatures that the inner Bay Area so it will be colder in the winter and hotter in the summer. So you will more than likely be using your AC in the summer and your furnace in the winters. I know people who regularly pay $600+ for PGE every month. We rarely top $200 during summer and winter and under $100 during spring and fall but our house in 1300 sqft in Livermore. We have a lot of spiders and pintcher bugs here never really get ants.

Where do you currently live?

The reason I ask is, people who are used to cold/colder climates (like myself) are generally okay in the winter time here (daytime highs are still 50s-60s most of the time). I didn't use the heat at all last winter, because I'm used to 20-30 degree winters. My electric bill was literally only $30-$40 from like November-March

In the summer, it gets very hot inland, and A/C will cost you. For my 2bd 1bath apartment, with a/c on all day/night the electric ran around $150 average I'd say

I am the opposite, used to hot weather, but not cold climate. My PG&E bill for a 2300 sqft house goes up to $200 in the winter, but a tad below $50 in the summer. It can get very hot in the tri-vally area, but usually only last a couple of days a time, and it cools down very fast at night, typically a couple of degrees lower than the inner bay, so most of time, window fans are sufficient for me.

I'm renting a house in Dublin about 3700sf with solar panels. Moving in from midwest but still not used to cold.

How expensive is water?

Water bill used to be higher due to severe drought, but earlier this year DSRSD (Dublin San Ramon Services District) lowered the water rate, my last bi-monthly water bill is almost $70

What part of the Midwest? I am from Southern Indiana, and the "cold" here are normal days isn't anywhere near what I came from
