Poverty is often a common trait of criminals, but it is by no means the only condition that produces crime. Some groups commit vastly disproportionate levels of crime. Many poor people do not commit crime. Crime is; however, at epidemic levels in some communities.

Oakland's "loss", is Antioch's "gain".

The entire point of Majoun's post, when distilled, is making the point that even poor immigrants are preferable.

Right, it's not necessarily the poor folks themselves, but opportunists who come around in that environment...i.e. the guy who just got out of jail and "needs a place to stay" crashing with his granny who has lived in the same section 8 apartment/house for decades.

That "group" is prevalent in all of the top 10 cities in the op's list.

Also the income stats are a bit skewed because of cost of living. $200k in Oakland does not go near as far as it does in many other cities.

Because nearly any immigrant group would have much lower crime rates than that group.

Especially in a city like Oakland where both legals and illegals have pushed out some of the people who create the most problems
You're right about immigrants, we have a lot of them here, refugees, and legal and illegal immigrants but they aren't the one's stealing packages off people's porches or breaking into cars, that's being done by white meth addicts.

Rockford is 21.3% black. I guess that's enough.

80% of the land area of Chicago is either yuppified or consists of boring ethnic (mostly Hispanic and Central/Eastern European) working-class neighborhoods with very little crime.

The same issue that is being discussed very gingerly in this thread applies to Chicago.
