She lived in San Diego, bought the 9mm used in the shooting legally, at a gun store next to a WalMart in San Diego. Walmarts here do not sell firearms. So she did not have to smuggle the gun across state lines. We have a thread about her in the San Diego forum, by the way. People interested in a more fact-based discussion should probably go there.

According to a memo obtained from the Obama justice department, 80% of crime guns are obtained in the state they are used. Scroll down to page 5 for the details.

Common sense would dictate that if the laws of the state matter then the states without universal background checks, where people are getting all these guns that you claim are being transported to other states for acts of crime, would then mean the originating states would have just as high if not higher crime. This of course is not the case. The states without UBC have lower crime rates than the states with them and buying guns out of state and bringing them back to your home state Is already illegal
  • Again, you are using a short time frame - 2 months - to suggest that London's murder rate is higher (From February through March, London recorded 37 homicides while New York City recorded 32). But what's omitted: in January, London recorded 8 homicides while New York City recorded 18. Clearly, months contain blips, so its not a trend that's reflected on a year by year basis. In 2017 alone, there were 116 homicides in London, and 290 in New York City. Per your article:
    Quote:
While the populations of London and New York are similar with around 8 million people living in each, the number of murders in the US city is still around twice that here.
  • I couldn't find that "80% figure" in the memo or how it corresponds to my statement. However, you are citing an unpublished and unofficial memo - who's author calls it a "cursory summary" and who's department describes it as an "unfinished review of gun violence research." Certainly, a review would contain prevailing research, which happens to confute the argument/narrative you are trying to make.

Yes guns are the choice because of access. But if you ban guns bombs are easily made from materials easily procured.
Heck someone can easily poison water supplies.
The anti gunners are like the little boy who save the town by plugging his finger in the **** when he sees the leak. The real problem is not the one leak, it's that The whole **** has problems. The shootings or bombings are indicative that there is a bigger problem that needs to be addressed.
If your roof leaks, putting a bucket to catch the water does not solve the issue of the roof.

Apparently the word I used to refer to a wall that hogs water back is not allowed
What is this weird obsession you have with home made bombs, which are incredibly rare. Do you honestly think injuries and deaths from guns would be supplanted by homemade bombs if guns were banned?

You fail to understand the mental gymnastics going on in these debates. Yes, it's a ridiculous claim.
