Dear All

I have finally found an apartment! Thanks for all who helped me in this forum about different neighbourhood advices.

I will be living in Chinatown for two months. (May to July). Can anyone tell me more about the Chinatown neighbourhood? I am working in a hotel so sometimes I might need to come back home from work pretty late. Is it dangerous?

Also, can anyone tell me what is the best way I go to work from my apartment? And also how was the weather in that two month in San Fran? Thank you!

Apartment:1058 Washington St, San Francisco, CA 94108
Work Place: 181 3rd St, San Francisco, CA 94103

A Big Thanks!

Oh that should be great. It's Chinatown, but it's right next to Nob Hill too. I almost took an apartment at Clay & Taylor.. only reason I didn't was because they wouldn't take a couple. Otherwise I would have hopped on it, no question. You'd be walking south a block to Clay and taking the 1-California bus downhill to your work in the South of Market.

The weather will be mild, probably windy, between 60-70 degrees F.

Take either the 30 or 45 south on Stockton. Get off by 4th & Howard. Walk 1 block to 3rd St to the W Hotel. The return trip goes on 3rd St since these are one way streets. These buses are very crowded so it is a good idea to leave early. You can get a monthly pass for $45. Then you can also ride the cable cars and Bart within SF city limits for free with the pass.

The number 1 bus is less crowded and will give you a 3 block walk to the hotel.

chinatown SF can be dangerous late at night, a friend was robbed while walking home after a night of gambling in chinatown around 2 to 3am in the morning

Chinatown has become a prettty dangerous place to be at night due mainly to the flood of thugs moving into the 2 projects on Pacific Ave between Powell and Grant. These thugs were placed here after they shutdown the projects near Fisherman's Wharf and another near Japantown. So, I would strongly advice against walking home (or anywhere in Chinatown) late at night. It's perfectly safe in the daytime due to the large number of people roaming around the area.
