Hardly. Fremont by itself thrashes the combined sum of Daly City, Colma, South City and San Bruno as far as desirability, schools, weather, neighborhoods etc.

Let alone that massive area surrounding Oakland in that Washington Post article, which apparently is the 5th largest cluster of upwardly mobile households in the entire country.
Although I don't agree that everyone deserves a star but I will make an exception. You win too!

Fremont is more desirable than RWC and RWC is more desirable than Fremont. Yay, now let's move on with out lives...

The condos in all 4 of those cities are also more expensive than Fremont once again signifying how they’re more desirable places.

Yes, because the West Bay, as you call it, is the place to be.

I prefer to call it the peninsula. Calling it the west bay is low class.

Colma $361,747
South San Francisco $344,682
Daly City $325,092

Adults with a Bachelor Degree or Higher:
Fremont 55.1%
San Bruno 40.0%
Daly City 36.5%
South San Francisco 33.0%
Colma 28.1%

Owner Occupied Homes Valued at $2 Million+:

It's not complicated. Redwood City is more expensive because it is much closer (i.e. commute time) to more of the jobs in the Bay Area than Fremont. The traffic from Fremont to San Jose, San Francisco, and all the jobs in the peninsula / south bay is much worse than from Redwood City. So all those people who can actually buy a house aren't going to spend similar money for Fremont and have to add 1 + ours to their daily commute.

Now if your work is 30 min or less from Fremont, it would certainly make sense to take advantage of this discount. If you expect to change jobs ever, though, you would have to make sure you don't get stuck with a crippling commute.

Both places have nice parts. Redwood City east of El Camino I wouldn't bother with, but the western part of Redwood City near Alameda de las Pulgas is a really nice location. Hard to beat, really. I like parts of Fremont too (near Mission Peak) and of course you will see those areas are more expensive.

I have lived in the east bay and south bay, and I noticed Redwood City was always more expensive. I think it is more expensive than Fremont because it is in the peninsula. Easy to drive to San Francisco or San Jose. Fremont has great schools, maybe Redwood City schools are better? I still prefer Fremont over Redwood City though. Fremont feels more open , whereas Redwood City feels a little more cramped.
