Can anyone tell me about Kensington, CA - a small, primarily residential community in the Oakland/Berkeley hills. I drove through it recently, by accident, and am now considering opening a florist there. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you, in advance for any input.

Uh, excuse me...Holmes: why are you bumping threads from 5 years ago with nonsense answers from 2000 miles away?

I've heard life in St. Cloud, MN can get a bit dull, but......

Attn SF C-Ders, since it's already bumped, I'm a bit curious about Kensington also after I saw it's location. Anyone?

It is really small with a few stores as the commercial district. I have met a few people from there who were extra snooty. It is even less clear you are in Kensington vs the surrounding Berkeley/Albany zones than it is when you are Oakland/Berkeley. There is a price premium for snooty though. I didn't see anything worth seeking out.

Kensington is an unincorporated residential area in Contra Costa County. It is nestled in the hills and is mainly closely associated with Berkeley (which of course is Alameda County). In fact, without seeing a sign, it's virtually impossible to tell when you've crossed into Kensington from Berkeley or vice versa.

Yeah, Kensington Circus. I've been there once and yes, its an OK pub. They have a space for kids to play, which is great once they've sped through their meals and are ready to go.

But, as you said, its OK. They don't serve liquor, so no whiskey. Kind of strange to be in a place that calls itself a pub but doesn't serve whiskey. I'm sure the reason is more of an issue with getting the license, but still.
