We're getting ready to move to the Bay Area this June. My biggest concern is whether we will have problems renting seeing as both my wife and I won't have a job yet when we get there. We do have enough saved up to last us seven months, my wife is a nurse and I'm a programmer with 10+ yrs experience, and we both have excellent credit. We're headed for the Peninsula, around the San Mateo area, given the preponderance of job opportunities there in my line of work. Will we have any problems renting, seeing as income verification seems to be a requirement in most places I've looked?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

If your wife is a nurse, she can sign up with a registry and start working immediately. That should be enough to get you over the hump and get you into a place. Then, once you are in, you can both take your time looking for the jobs you really want.

If your wife is a RN... then you really need to line up a job before the move to receive a moving allowance/sign on bonus...
