PMicallief,
At first I thought you were being kinda snooty but on reflection I was wrong.
You are pretty spot on.
Yes there are good views all over the Bay Area but the stellar ones are... let’s say a bit different.

I help build some of these places in the City.
The views I get to see are better than most.

Here is one that has me doing some work on.

Do you mean Marin county? Could you please be more specific about which parts of the peninsula? Thanks

What kind of views are you looking for?

Views of all sorts can be found in most every area if you find a house on a hillside. I have a great view from my own backyard--nobody around--but it's a shady, mossy, riparian, oak studded hillside with a winter creek down below where I can watch deer/wild turkey/coyote/hawks from my deck. I don't have a view of the ocean or a mountain though.

The El Cerrito hills near the El Cerrito natural hillside area I think is really underrated as far as views go--when I rented there on a clear day I could see the Golden Gate Bridge, the Richmond Bridge, and the Bay Bridge overlooking the SF bay straight to Marin. But really anywhere on a hill will have great views. Berkeley, Oakland, El Cerrito, Richmond, Hayward, etc.
