Really depends on what you are looking for. In Fremont, where we go to sell books at the Half Price Book Store, there is a Bassett Furniture and an Ashley Fuirniture store and on the way there in Union City there is a La-Z Boy gallery. On Rte 92 in Foster City there is a Ethan Allen, on El Camino Real in San Mateo there is a Hoot Judkins (unfinished furniture)... and Macy's has an outlet in Hillsdale Mall....

There is really a whole gamut of places.

In my opinion, your best bet is to check out your local Yellow Pages. The PHONE BOOK one.

There really are some things that the internet doesn't do well, and the Yellow Pages is one of them. If you KNOW the store name, can't beat the internet, but if you're looking for ideas, check the Yellow Pages.

I was impressed by a recent visit to Bessini Furniture in the Tanforan mall in San Bruno. I know, it's the mall, but I was left with a much better impression than IKEA, Cort or the La-Z-Boy gallery on my block of El Camino.

Try Flagels on Santa cruz ave. in Menlo Park. And Design Within Reach on University in Palo Alto. Both nice stores but abit pricey. DSW has a website. Consignment stores are around too.

oops forgot.

I went there with an Interior Designer.

I believe their biggest competition is SF Design Center, which is open to the public.
