I always thought it would be fun to walk around Alcatraz or walk down "Broadway" at night.

The tour guide said:

"STAY AS LONG AS YOU LIKE! WE HAVE PLENTY OF ACCOMODATIONS"

Talking Stay Overnight, Eh?

Well, some people with "extra perception" feel the presence of ghosts there. Stay overnight and you could have more excitement than you could handle. And, remember, those two escapees decades ago had a loooong plan. LOL!!!!

Do you all remember when they locked you in solitary confinement for a few minutes, back when they had real guided tours of Alcatraz? I remember doing that on a class trip there, and it was SO creepy!! Not sure I'd want to spend the night, though it would be a cool place for a Halloween party.

Default Yes, there are overnights

Groups can stay over. There's a lottery system, so you have to get your name in. Check with the NPS, Golden Gate National Recreation Area. There is a cost, and you have to do community service on the island.

Yes, there are several background areas that are off-limits to the public. If you're really interested in the island, go to the night tour -- where the ratio of guides to visitors is higher -- and chat with the guides. They may have time to show you these places. No guarantees, though, but they are happy to do things for visitors who have a genuine interest in the history of the island.
