where in cali do you guys suggests it's more affordable in all terms, ie rent and other expenses of life? SF? LA? SD? any debate on this?

That's not a fair comparison. LA County has over 10 million people! SF county consists only of the city of San Francisco so it doesn't have a prayer.

From my experiences of living in SoCal and NoCal, I like NoCal more and I think its more affordable But, of course its about personal preference. Everyone has their own terms of comfort and affordability. If you like fast paced life, tons of stuff to do, diversity and materialism, then L.A and Orange county are your types of places. San Diego seems very laid back and if I were to go back to SoCal, it would be there. I heard its VERY expensive to live there. To me, you seem to get more for your money in you live in NoCal. Its less congested, people are more down to earth. Once again, its all about personal preference.
