Hitchhiked from sacramento to balinas for an awsome bluegrass festival in 1974. Awsome scenery, people, little quirky houses and an easy going feel. Good memories

I can't imagine anyone commuting from Bolinas to SF. It's too long a commute. It's mostly a vacation home community.

The fog isn't the problem. Almost every time it rains, they have to close Hwy 1 near Mt. Tam because of mudslides. Also, if the weather is nice you get hordes of campers crowding the roads.

OP, Bolinas may look close to the City as the crow flies, but it's a very windy road (think: motion sickness) to get there, there can be traffic or bottlenecks, it can be dangerous in inclement weather, and it's much too long a commute even in the best of circumstances. It was NOT designed as a commute road, but rather as a slow meander into the countryside for weekends and holidays, intended mainly to serve local communities, nothing more.

Beautiful locales can be found around the Bay side of Marin county that are a much easier commute to SF. Explore Fairfax, Russian River towns, or if you can afford it, Mill Valley.
