Firstly, SF attracts the West Coast version (or transplanted East Coast version) of the Sex and the City types. Also, for new grads, it's a major magnet. Also, with the percentage of gay men, the de facto ratio is probably the best you'll find. Back when I was young-ish I spent lots of time in The City, and found my time to be quite rewarding. If I were single and young, I would still choose SF as a place to hang out.
