Metreon (theater, landlord, stores)

I know I could look this up online, but it's nice to read what people have to say.

Is the Metreon in SOMA still operating? I remember reading about how it wasn't "doing so well".

I was there in late-Sept '06 for a couple of weeks, and I noticed postings around the city for the Titanic Exhibit that was held there. I was jazzed! It was such a great surprise, not knowing about it in advance, and it was an excellent exhibt.

On that very trip were two other surprises that I enjoyed immensely ~ the Korean Festival at the park in Union Square and the Harvest Moon Festival in Chinatown (which was sheer, exciting MADNESS).

What I went to SF that year FOR, was the blues festival. And it was great, too; however, it got so COLD there by the bay that I had to leave before the main act performed.

I did miss the Dragonboat Festival, though.

Late-September through Columbus Day weekend are great times to be there. Much to see and do.

The Metreon is still there, but the only reason to go there is for the IMAX theater. A lot of stores there have failed and have not been replaced.

Sony is a terrible landlord. As soon as they relinquish their grip on running the place it'll boom again.
