I'm thinking about living in Alemeda. I'll be working in Hayward. What will my commute be like if I have to be in Hayward in the am (6:30) ? How long would it take on average ? Also, is Alemada a decent place for a single, professional, straight 44 yr old guy ? I like bars that have live bands, good beer and good grub ? What's the night life in Alemeda like ? Is it a decent place to meet single women ?

That's a great commute, especially at that time. Also, it sorta depends on which part of Hayward you'll be working in but generally speaking I'll say 15-20 minutes door to door in the am. Maybe 10 minutes longer coming back to Alameda in the evening.

The only nightlife in Alameda that I am aware of is along Park Street and that consists of restaurants and cafes and its usually done by 9. Not too many bars and live bands.

I'm sure Berkeley has the nightlife you're looking for, and it's only about 10 miles away.
