Default noise complaint for business

does anyone know where you can make complaints in regardings to excessive noise of a business? we have a restaurant underneath our apartment who has this huge, monsterously noisy generator in their backyard that runs their water and light feature. they leave it on all night and it's not just super noisy, but it literally vibrates the walls. we've tried to contact the business, but they don't care. is there anything we can do. we have not slept a good night's sleep in a month! this is horrible.

You could try calling 311 (the city services number) and asking them. I'm not sure there's anything you can do, but I'm not a lawyer.

Had a similar problem when a supermarket put in all new AC condensers on the other side of my fence.

Code Compliance of the city building department did sound sampling and found the noise to be right at the limit. They made suggestions, but could do no more since the store property is zoned commercial retail.

First, I think you need to find out what is allowed and secondly, measure the sound level.

Residential rents are generally lower near freeways and commercial businesses... not much consolation.

Next to my wife and i is a big parking lot and at about 3 in the morning we get woken up out of our sleep from a sweeping truck cleaning the leaves out from the sidewalk. Its a terrible humming noise from the vacuum it's been going on for a wile now keeping us up for 3 hours at a time. Can i get signatures to shut them down at least at night I'm sure I'm not the only one that's losing sleep. Wat can i do?
